Indigenes of Akoku-Uno clan has thrown their weight behind the former leader of the defunct Movement for Emancipation of Niger Delta (MEND), High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo aka Tompolo, over the crude oil pipelines surveillance contract recently awarded him by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited.
The Akoku-uno clan which is made up of five different communities in Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State conveyed their decision to back Tompolo to him when representative of the clan visited the Warri office of GbaramatuVoice on Monday.
The delegation led by Mr. Enebuse Eugene Oseji, Chairman, Akoku-uno clan, stated unequivocally that they are ready, willing and eager to work hand in hand with Tompolo to shut down every illegal refinery in Ukwuani Local Government Area of the state.
In his words, “We the entire members of Akoku-uno clan in Ukwuani LGA are fully in support of Tompolo to eradicate all illegal refineries because of how it has been affecting lives and properties in our communities.
Speaking further, they thanked the federal government for the new contract given to their industrious leader, High Chief Government OWEIZEDE EKPEMUPOLO aka Tompolo.
While noting that the contract stands as a testament to Chief Tompolo’s sustained efforts and development of all Deltans, the communities expressed unflinching trust in Tompolo’s capacity to execute the latest project.
Other members of the communities that made up Akoku-uno Clan, who formed part of the delegation to GbaramatuVoice Office includes: Prince Duke Mogbolu, Onor-Chi-Eze of Uguwu Akoku-uno community; Prince Endurance Egwuenu, Onor-Chi-Eze of Umuja Akoko-uno Community; Prince Kingsley Enebuse, Onorchi-Eze of Obi Enebuse community and Barrister Samson Idama, Community legal adviser, among others.
It is a well known fact that Akoku-uno clan in Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta state is reputed for having a rich deposit of natural gas and currently houses two Oil and Gas prospecting companies – Platform Petroleum Limited and Seplat Petroleum Development Company respectively.
