A first-half Zlatan Ibrahimovic freekick and a second-half Franck Kessie penalty made sure AC Milan secured all three points over Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma on Sunday night.
Ibrahimovic with his 400th league goal opened the scoring with a cooly taken low free kick in the first half and the 40-year old Swede was then fouled in the early minutes of the second half by Roma’s Roger Ibanez with Franck Kessie converting the resulting spot-kick.
Stefano Pioli‘s side could have had four goals: two were chalked off for offside, with one either side of halftime.
Deep into the second half, Theo Hernandez received a second yellow resulting in Milan having to finish the game with 10 men after which Stephan El Shaarawy came off the bench to score a goal against his former club in added time.
The results mean Jose Mourinho’s undefeated run in the league at home comes to an end, but Milan carry on with their impressive title challenge.
The result sees AC Milan move back level on top of the Serie A table alongside Napoli.
