Arsenal hammered Leeds 4-1 on Saturday night, with Gabriel Martinelli scoring twice.
The only Premier League Saturday match to escape the Covid outbreak was one-way traffic in the first half, and Arsenal might have doubled their three-goal lead at halftime.
Martinelli scored two wonderful goals, one into the roof of the net and the other a nice dink over Illan Meslier, before Bakary Saka’s deflected attempt essentially finished the game three minutes before halftime.
Though Arsenal were happy to play out the game, Leeds fared much better in the second half and were rewarded when Raphinha netted his second penalty of the season after Ben White fouled Joe Gelhardt.
With six minutes remaining, Emile Smith Rowe, who had stopped a Leeds attack earlier, was passed in by Martin Odegaard and scored well to restore the three-goal lead.
Arsenal now leads West Ham by four points in the race for the fourth Champions League spot.
