Following the recent negative media campaigns launched against the Interim Administrator (IA) of the Presidential Amensty Programme (PAP), Col. Milland Dixon Dikio (rtd.) by some pseudo- groups and leaders in the Niger-Delta region, a youth advocacy group, Niger-Delta Positive Thinkers (NDPT) has vowed not to allow fifth columnists and blackmailers to truncate the on-going massive movement against corruption within the intervention programme.
The NDPT, in a strong worded statement issued in Asaba, the Delta State capital on Saturday, signed by it Publicity Secretary, Emma Omasheye, the group warned mischievous elements within and outside the region to stay clear of the PAP office and the IA, “at this crucial period when a verification exercise is on-going at PAP office to identify genuine delegates of the programme to put a stop to the corruption infested system inherited by Dikio’s administration.”
Omasheye said; “Though, we’re not surprised at the rate at which some unscrupulous elements are thrown mud on the sparkling white garment of our interim administrator, who had, since resumption of duty about a year ago, engaged vigorously in cleaning the shenanigans left behind by previous administrations.
“With renewed efforts and profound satisfactions, Col. Dixon Dikio (rtd.) has been delivering on the core mandate to right all the wrongs at the PAP office, and ensuring that only geninue delegates/ ex-agitators originally enlisted in the programme are directly paid the N65,000 monthly stipend.
“The evil activities of these bad elements within our region against Col. Dixon Dikio (rtd.) is a tripical situation of corruption fighting back an administrator who is posed to put a stop to the unguided financial recklessness that has being bedeviled the system since it inception in 2010.
“We’re urging our good people in the Niger-Delta region, especially the ex-agitators and the vibrant youths to continue to give the IA full support in his current quest to give the PAP office a perfect and corruption free leadership that all of us will be proud of as Niger-Deltains”, the statement read in parts.
The youth advocacy group, however urged President Mohammadu Buhari to approve and confirm Col. Dixon Dikio (rtd.) as a substaincive chairman of PAP, as a way of compensating him for his frantic effort to reorganise, revitalise and reenergetise the office in the last one year, stressing that such gesture would further propelled the IA to break more earth-shaking grounds.
