Three Killed, Several Wounded In Asaba Church Collapse.
A church collapsed in southern Nigeria, killing at least three people, including two children.
The church in the Okpanam district of Asaba, Delta State’s capital, fell on Tuesday evening, according to local police spokesperson Bright Edafe.
He went on to say that 11 of the 18 persons rescued were still being treated in hospitals.
According to local media, the structure collapsed as a church service was being performed in the evening.
Building collapses are widespread in Africa’s most populous country, where millions of people live in decaying houses and building codes are frequently disregarded.
Since a high-rise building under construction in Lagos collapsed in November last year, killing at least 45 people, building regulations have been under the limelight.
