Asfar of Morocco defeated Rivers Angels of Nigeria 3-0, with Sanaa Mssoudy scoring the first ever CAF Women’s Champions League hat-trick.
It was the second game in Group B to be held at Egypt’s El Salam stadium. Mssoudy put Asfar ahead 1-0 in the first half before adding two more goals in the second half to give the north Africans a remarkable victory.
The Rivers Angels will play Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa in their second group game on Tuesday, November 9th, in the hopes of bouncing back from their first match defeat.
Mamelodi Sundowns, meanwhile, won their first match of the season on Saturday, edging Kenya’s Vihiga Queens.
The second round of games will begin on Monday, with Group A consisting of host Wadi Degla, Ghana’s Hasaacas Ladies, Equatorial Guinea’s Malabo Kings, and Mali’s AS Mande.
