REVEALED: CNN Exposé Shows How Army Killed #EndSARS Protesters

Contrary to claims by the Nigerian Army that no protester was killed on the 20th of October Lekki Tollgate Shootings, a CNN investigative report have uncovered how personnel of the Nigeria army fired live ammunition at #EndSARS protesters.

The documentary aired on Wednesday categorically showed, with geodata, the unsavory role the army played in what is now known as the ‘Lekki tollgate massacre’

The report detailed: “Evidence of bullet casings from the scene match those used by the Nigerian army when shooting live rounds, according to current and former Nigerian military officials. Verified video footage — using timestamps and data from the video files — shows soldiers who appear to be shooting in the direction of protesters. And accounts from eyewitnesses establish that after the army withdrew, a second round of shooting happened later in the evening.

“Two ballistics experts also confirmed that the shape of the bullet casings indicate they used live rounds,” the CNN said.

The network said it worked with the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network and “established that several of the bullets from the Lekki toll gate originated from Serbia. Export documents CNN has seen show that Nigeria purchased weaponry from Serbia almost every year between 2005 and 2016”.

The international media organization specifically reported the death of Victor Ibanga who was allegedly killed by the military officers.

“The Ibangas are one of several families yet to locate the bodies of their missing loved ones — protestors at the toll gate — who dozens of eyewitnesses say were shot at, first by members of the Nigerian army and then hours later by police,” the report partly read.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai has denied the reports, maintaining that the Nigerian Army was professional in its conduct.
