PSG Confirm Neymar Will Be Out For Close To Eight Weeks

Neymar will be out for up to two months due to an ankle injury, according to Paris Saint-Germain.

The Brazilian forward was injured when he was caught by a hefty challenge in PSG’s 3-1 victory over St Etienne over the weekend.

His team provided information on Neymar and numerous other first-team players in an update.

“The medical check of Tuesday 29 November concerns Neymar Jr, Marco Verratti, Mauro Icardi, Georginio Wijnaldum, Ander Herrera and Julian Draxler,” the statement began.

“Practical examinations yesterday evening confirm that Neymar is suffering from a sprain on his left ankle with ligament damage. It is expected that he will be out for between six and eight weeks. A new examination will be made in 72 hours.”

Verratti, Icardi, Wijnaldum, and Herrera have minor worries, while Draxler is anticipated to return to training in two or three weeks.

PSG’s next game against Nice, as well as their Champions League tie against Club Brugge, will be played without Neymar.

PSG has already clinched second place in Group A, behind Manchester City.

The Christmas break in Ligue 1 will cover some of the striker’s absence, and with the Champions League knockout stages starting in mid-February, he may not miss any of the last-16 matches.
