On Sunday, December 12th, 2021, Hon. Julius Pondi, a member of the House of Representatives for the Burutu Federal Constituency, hosted Col. Milland Dikio (Rtd), Interim Administrator of the Niger Delta Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) in his lovely residence in Warri.
According to Hon. Julius Pondi, a politician widely regarded as a political liberator of Niger Deltans, Ijaws, and the people of Delta State’s Burutu Local Government Area, a closed-door meeting between himself, the Amnesty boss, and other leaders was to have a conversation on how to restructure the Amnesty Program to assist Niger Deltans.
While praising Dikio for paying him a visit at his humble residence, Hon. Pondi stated that there have been a number of complaints from the program’s ex-agitators, but that he feels the coordinator, as a man of competence, would guarantee that things are placed in the right perspective.
The federal legislator stated that Niger Deltans see the Amnesty Programme, particularly the Ex-agitators, as a very significant program, and that the office must do everything in its ability to guarantee that these persons are preserved and supported in compliance with the program’s rules.
Pondi stated, among other things, that the Interim Administrator must continue to consult and stay in touch with key stakeholders of the program, stressing that Niger Deltans cannot continue to lament when Amnesty International and other agencies are available to help with some of these issues, adding that synergy is key in this regard and that his office is open whenever the need arises as long as it is a Niger Delta matter.
Pondi had characterized Amnesty’s supervisor as a humble and results-oriented individual, advising him to maintain the pace of his leadership in handling the program’s business.
Dikio, on the other hand, thanked Hon. Pondi and the other leaders present for holding the meeting and exchanging ideas on how to take the Niger Delta and the Amnesty Programme ahead.
Dikio stated that the Amnesty office under his supervision is doing a lot and that he would continue to find methods to preserve and strengthen the program, emphasizing that he will not let Niger Deltans and leaders down.
Meanwhile, the meeting ended with the resolve and hope that the PAP, led by Dikio, will continue to provide a better deal for Niger Deltans.
Other prominent leaders that joined Hon. Pondi to receive the Amnesty boss include Amb. (Dr) Shedrack Agediga, Executive Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Chief Emman Amgbaduba, Commissioner, Ministry of Oil and Gas, Delta State, Barr.
