Oromoni: Falana Presents Interim DPP’s Report, Court Adjourns.

Femi Falana, the lawyer representing the family of 12-year-old Sylvester Oromoni (Junior), who died in questionable circumstances, has delivered the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions’ interim legal advice to the Coroner Inquest set up to probe the boy’s death.

Bamidele Olusegun, a police officer with the State Criminal Investigation Department, verified the advise, saying it was given on December 30, 2021, after the police had presented their findings on December 23.

Following a social media post by his cousin, Perry Oromoni, alleging that some senior students at the college beat him up in his hostel because he refused to join a cult, news of Sylvester’s death went viral.

The school, on the other hand, refuted the accusation, claiming that the youngster had complained of leg pain as a result of a football injury.

During the police officer’s cross-examination, Falana presented several documents to the court, which the defense counsel originally objected to because they had not seen them before.

While adjourning the case till Tuesday, February 22, 2022, for the continuation of cross-examination, the Coroner, Magistrate Mikhail Kadiri, asked Falana to serve the relevant documents to the other parties.

Earlier in the inquiry, the deceased’s father stated that all he wanted was justice, and that the coroner’s conclusions would help the family achieve closure.
