Chevron, Shell, Mobil, Others To Pay Nigeria N253b In February

The Niger Delta students’ protest outside the Nigerian Petroleum Development Corporation’s headquarters in Benin-City, Edo State, took a new turn on Thursday, when one of the female protesters was allegedly injured by a gunshot fired by one of the corporation’s police officers.

After accusing management of allegedly diverting training materials and financial benefits permitted for the two-day programs aimed at raising awareness about the provisions of the petroleum industrial laws, the students staged a peaceful protest.

However, as the protest entered its second day, a yet-to-be-identified police fired gunshots to disperse the oncoming students away from the Faculties’ entrance.

The injured student has been taken to Nigerian Airforce hospital for medical attention for treatment
