Secretary to the Ondo State Government, Ifedayo Abegunde, has resigned his appointment from the Rotimi Akeredolu administration.
“I, Hon, Ifedayo Sunday Abegunde hereby tender my letter of resignation. I want to thank Mr Governor for giving me the opportunity to serve the Government and people of Ondo State.
I want to thank Mr Governor for giving me the opportunity to serve the government and people of Ondo State.
Again, my family and I wish Mr Governor quick recovery”, Abegunde said in a letter dated July 6th, 2020.
According to sources in government, the SSG had shunned series of government activities in the past few weeks.
It is worthwhile to note that Mr Abegunde had been at loggerhead with Akeredolu for over a month over issues surrounding the second term ambition of the governor.
In the meantime, it is not yet known whether Mr Abegunde would also resign his membership from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Mr Abegunde’s resignation comes weeks after Mr Akeredolu’s deputy, Agboola Ajayi, left the APC for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Mr Ajayi has recently been screened to contest for the PDP’s primary. On Sunday, he asked Mr Akeredolu to hand over to him having tested positive for coronavirus.
