Ondo Residents Tasked On Environmental Laws.

Ondo State citizens, particularly those in Akure, the state capital, have been urged to avoid dumping trash indiscriminately.

Some locals have converted a location near the Akure South Local Government headquarters into a dumping area, according to reports.

Dr Abiola Bashorun, managing director of ZL Global, a waste management company, made the appeal on Wednesday while wishing state Deputy Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa a happy 57th birthday.

She urged people to follow environmental rules in order to maintain a healthy environment.

Dr Bashorun said, “Our people should not wait till environmental officers start running after them before they do the right thing.

“We learnt people would come with refuse in their cars and dump refuse in places which are not designated points for the refuse dump. This could lead to serious health challenges.”

Dr Bashorun congratulated the deputy governor and urged him to be steadfast in respecting democratic principles and working for a better Ondo State and Nigeria.

She said: “We pray that the Almighty will grant you many more years of relevance in the land in good health as you continue to contribute your quota to the development of Nigeria.”
