Amid the battle in the Executive Council of the Ondo State government, the State House of Assembly has moved to suspend its deputy speaker, Honourable Irioju Ogundeji, and another member of the House, Honourable Adewale Williams for opposing the planned impeachment of the deputy governor, Mr Agboola Ajayi.
Fourteen other members of the assembly had earlier served the deputy governor an impeachment notice based on allegations of gross misconduct, financial recklessness and negligence of duty among others.
The suspended lawmakers were among the nine lawmakers that rejected the impeachment proceedings against the deputy governor on Tuesday.
The lawmakers were suspended for an alleged unruly behaviour.
Earlier, the embattled Deputy Governor challenged his impeachment in court
Mr Ajayi, through his solicitors, filed an application before the Federal High Court Abuja, requesting it to stop the state House of Assembly from impeaching him.
Listed as defendants in the suit are; the House of Assembly, the Department of State Services, the Inspector General of Police, Mr Muhammed Adamu, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Bolaji Salami, and the Speaker of the Assembly, Mr David Oloyeloogun.
The Deputy Governor prayed the court to grant an order of perpetual injunction preventing the impeachment process as well as compel the respondents to stay action.
