Okowa, Ibori Meet Ahead Of PDP Mega Rally.
The People’s Democratic Party‘s Delta state chapter’s larger ‘caucus’ meeting, which was conducted ahead of Saturday’s Mega Rally to choose who would succeed governor Ifeanyi Okowa, was alleged to have ended in an impasse.
Okowa, former governors James Ibori and Emmanuel Uduaghan, Senator James Manager, Minority Leader House of Representatives, Ndudi Elumelu, State PDP Chairman, Kingsley Esiso, and other caucus members were present at the meeting held at the Government House on Friday night in Asaba.
It was also reported that the party’s Chairman, Kingsley Esiso, had moved the motion for the governorship to be rezoned to Delta Central, with Senators Stella Omu and Elumelu supporting him.
Manager and former PDP State Chairman Edwin Uzor, however, was believed to be against allocating it to Delta Central.
Meanwhile, former governor James Ibori is alleged to have pledged to support his choice of candidate, David Edevbie, a Delta Central native, despite Okowa’s opposition.
However, on Saturday, January 22, 2022, the PDP Mega Rally will be conducted, and the party is likely to declare the path in which the governorship candidate would emerge.
