The authorities of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), ile-Ife, Osun State, on Friday announced the reopened it main campus to academic activities under new management.
After the death of a final-year student, Aishat Adesina, the institution was shut down due to student protests that paralysed activities on the campus.
According to Abiodun Olarewaju, the University’s Public Relations Officer, the decision to reopen the university was made at an emergency Senate meeting held on Friday, October 29, 2002.
According to the Press release, the students will arrive in their residence on Friday, November 5th, 2021, and will resume their examinations on Saturday, November 6th, 2021, as planned.
It is the responsibility of parents and guardians to inform their children and wards, particularly those who have already finished their examinations to stay at home so that none of them would use the excuse of the reopening of the University to do something untoward.
The students are expected to follow the law and not engage in any activities that would prolong the session.
It should be remembered that the students were scheduled to take exams on October 2nd, 2021, before embarking on protests on October 1st, causing the exams to be canceled.
