NSCDC Arrests 124 Oil Theft Suspects, Seizes 284,540 Litre Petroleum Products In Ondo.
In Ondo State, soldiers from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) detained 124 oil theft suspects and seized 284,540 gallons of petroleum products.
The state Commandant, Dr. Hammed Abodunrin, revealed this on Friday in Akure, the state capital, saying they apprehended the culprits by men from the Intelligence and Investigation Department in the year 2021.
He said that the formation handled 1725 incidents last year, including intentional destruction of farms, robbery, unlawful mining, and rape.
The commandant said that 20 of the intelligence and investigative division’s 124 cases were still pending in court.
“We went to public schools and trained 200 teachers, 2000 students on personal security and protection,” Dr. Abodunrin stated, revealing the formation’s efforts in curbing crimes via sensitization.
“We also trained 150 staffers of Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin.
“We are going to intensify enlightenment on prevention of crimes. My only challenge is the unconsciousness of our people’s security.”
“In the just concluded year, a Special Female Squad was tactically trained to respond to school protection in the State and Rapid Response Squad to tackle crimes promptly. With the inauguration of a Cybercrime Forensic ICT Training Centre in the Command, crime can be solved in record time.”
