Neymar has cooled down talks that he might be interested in a potential return to Spanish La Liga giants Barcelona.
The Brazilian forward’s contracts will run out in June 2022 but his stay at Paris Saint-Germain for the 2020/2021 season is now a certainty.
In an interview with PSG’s official magazine, Neymar said: “I am staying at PSG next season. And with the ambition to return to the Champions League final, this time to win it,”
“I like this idea of doing everything to leave my name in the history books of my club. If people were doubting the presence of PSG as a great European club, those doubts died in Lisbon.”
Neymar also said: “We left this city with the feeling of being renewed and confidence in our capacity to win it one day to write an even greater history,”
“By returning from Lisbon, in the plane on the way back, we were already excited to see each other again in Paris. I will never forget what we shared with this squad. It has formed a family and I am proud.”
Neymar joined PSG in the summer of 2017 for €222 million from Barcelona becoming the most expensive player in world football.
During his time at Barcelona, he won the continental treble of La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the UEFA Champions League, and finished third for the FIFA Ballon d’Or in 2015 for his outstanding performances. He then won the domestic double the following season.
At PSG, Neymar has scored 47 goals in 52 appearances across all competitions for the French outfit.
