Jonathan Speaks On 2023 Presidential Ambitions

Former President, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, has reacted to reports linking him to a possible presidential election contest.

While speaking with newsmen on Friday at an event organised by the Commonwealth Community Choir in Abuja, Jonathan was asked if he would be joining the presidential race for 2023,

While the former president did not give a definite answer he said, “It is too early to talk about that.”

Speculations have been flying about, linking the Bayelsa-born politician to a possible return to the office he left 5 years ago.

Ijaw News had earlier reported that some governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and chieftains of the party had recently visited Jonathan, as pressure continues to mount on him to contest the 2023 election.

They visited Jonathan at his Abuja residence to felicitate with him on his 63rd birthday anniversary.

The APC delegation was led by Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state who is the acting national chairman of the party.

The meeting had in attendance, David Umahi, governor of Ebonyi who recently defected to the APC from the PDP; Atiku Bagudu, governor of Kebbi and chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum; and Abubakar Badaru, governor of Jigawa, among others.
