Hoodlums suspected to be sponsored by Pro SARS interests launched an attack #EndSARS protesters on Wednesday, destroying several cars and other properties in the process.
Several persons were said to have been injured after the hoodlums hijacked the SARSMustEnd protest in Abuja.
The protesters were marching across major streets in the city before they were attacked by a pro-SARS group. They, however, repelled the attacks, regrouped and concerned with the protest.
This comes amid the rejection of the newly created Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team by Nigerian youths.
The decried the insincerity of government in its earlier attempt to reform the police expressing cynicism that the SWAT unit was no different from the proscribed SARS.
It will be recalled that the IGP announced the creation of the new outfit to quell anger arising from demands for police refoms
A statement by Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Frank Mba said, “Prospective members of this new team will also undergo psychological and medical examination to ascertain their fitness and eligibility for the new assignment.
