Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Friday urged security agencies to investigate the mysterious death of Sylvester Oromoni, a 12-year-old Dowen College student.
Oromoni was allegedly beaten to death by fellow students after refusing to join the cult.
The school, however, denied the allegation in a statement, claiming that the student was injured while playing football.
The controversies surrounding Oromoni’s death prompted the Lagos State Government to close the school on Friday pending an investigation.
In response to the death of Oromoni, Atiku stated that justice must be served for the deceased.
He stated that security agencies, the government, and others must investigate and get to the root of the death of late Oromoni.
“We shall be failing in our duties as parents/guardians, administrators, security agencies and government if we do not get to the bottom of the case of late Sylvester Oromoni.
“It is beholden upon us to enthrone a safe environment in our schools,” he said.
