FG Cautions As COVID-19 Cases Rise By 630% In 10 days

The Federal Government cautioned Nigerians on Thursday to take responsibility for their health as the number of COVID-19 cases in the country continued to grow.

In a conversation with one of our reporters, the Minister of State for Health, Dr Olorunmimbe Mamora, stressed that, among other things, Nigerians must take responsibility for combating the coronavirus.

COVID-19 cases continued to rise in December, with 5,398 infections reported in the country between December 6 and 15.

Only 739 instances were documented between November 26 and December 5, suggesting a 630.45% spike in only ten days, according to data received on Thursday from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.

When asked what the Federal Government would do in light of the increase in instances, Mamora responded that existing measures would be strengthened.

He said, “It’s essentially to strengthen the existing measures through advocacy, awareness creation, education and emphasis on the need for people to take responsibility for their health.”

According to the report, 749 instances of COVID-19 were reported in the country between November 25 and December 4.

Between December 5 and December 14, there were 4,029 cases reported, up 437.92 percent from the preceding ten days.
