Ex-Oyo Gov Alao-Akala Is Dead.
Chief Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala, a former Governor of Oyo State, has died.
Tolu Mustapha, his media aide, verified the news. “Yes,” he said.
“It has happened. It has happened.”
According to a source acquainted with the situation, the All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain died in the early hours of Wednesday in Ogbomosho.
“It is true that Oga is dead. He died in the early hours of Wednesday in his room in Ogbomoso.
“He was full of life last night. In fact, I heard he was playing with his children before he went to bed. We are in a mourning mood now,” the source said.
Alao-Akala was born on June 3, 1950, in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, in the Ogbomoso North Local Government Area. He attended Osupa Baptist Day School in Ogbomoso before enrolling in Kamina Barracks Middle School, 5th Battalion of Infantry in Tamale, Ghana.
Between 2007 until 2011, Akala served as governor of Oyo State. Between 2003 and 2006, he served as a deputy governor under previous governor Rashidi Ladoja, and after Chief Ladoja was impeached, he became acting governor for eleven months.
