Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State reneged on his earlier directive prohibiting #EndSARS protests in Rivers State as he came out and lent support to the movement after protesters defied his ban.
The governor who was vocal in his call for the disbandment of SARS, told the demonstrators that he has “never and will never support SARS.”
#EndSARS Protesters had earlier trooped out in their numbers to join the nationwide demand for police reforms despite the ban on the protest by the state government.
The protesters marched from the Pleasure Park area of Port Harcourt to the Government house demanding that the Federal Government takes decisive action on the notorious police unit.

Some of the protesters said it would be a great relief for Nigerian citizens if SARS officials are deployed to Sambisa forest to fight Boko Haram terrorists, instead of brutalising innocent citizens.
The protest which was largely peaceful eventually drew the attention of the governor who lamented that the SARS menace had affected Rivers State more than any other state k the federation.
Wike promised the youths that his administration will continue to prioritise their welfare and give a listening hear to their demands.
