The Inspector-General of Police, Mr Adamu Mohammed, has briefed President Muhammadu Buhari on the ongoing #EndSARS protests across several states of the Federation.

The special assistant on new media to the president, Bashir Ahmad, made this known in a tweet on Friday.

The presidential aide assured Nigerians that the president would “take an action in the best interest of Nigerians.”

The tweet read: “Good people of Nigeria have every right to protest the #PoliceBrutality or anything they see is not going on well. The President was briefed yesterday by the IG of Police, I am very sure action will be taken and in the best interest of Nigerians. #EndSARSProtests.”

IjawNew had earlier reported how the protests continued to a third day in various parts of Nigeria.

It is worthwhile to note that #EndSARS protests is happening in various locations in the federation including Lagos, Kwara, Oyo, Osun, Edo and Delta states as well as the federal capital territory, Abuja with protesters jointly calling for the disbandment of SARS.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State House of Assembly has joined Nigerian youths to call for the immediate proscription of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

The assembly in an emergency meeting on Friday called for the formation of a new and properly structured unit to replace the notorious police squad.
