Nollywood’s actor, Chiwetalu Agu has been released by the operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), Tuesday evening.
Agu, who has been detained by the Army and the DSS for about a week for allegedly donning Biafran clothing and for allegedly inciting members of the public was originally apprehended in Upper-Iweka, Onitsha, Anambra state.
The Army at Onisha has earlier arrested and detained the ace actor for wearing an outfit that was claimed reflected the Biafran flag’s colors.
But, Agu has however, maintained at the time that he had committed no known offense because he was just dressed in a sun-drenched outfit and distributing ten thousand naira worth of bread to the needy.
The Army eventually handed him over to the DSS, who quickly whisked him away to Abuja.
He was released Teuday evening after intervention by Mike Ozekhome ‘s chambers which had been briefed by the Nigerian Guild of Actors to take up Agu’s defence probono.
Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN), had been briefed by Chief Emeka Rollas, Steve Eboh, and Waski, on behalf of Nigerian Guild of Actors, to step into the matter, and effect Agu’s released
The chambers had several interactions with DSS operatives, who were, on the most, very civil and cooperative. The DSS returned Agu to Eboh and Monolisa Chinda (Director of Media, Actors Guild of Nigeria) this evening at their Abuja headquarters after a thorough investigation of his phones revealed no evidence of wrongdoing.
Ecstatic Chiwetalu Agu, accompanied by Steve Eboh, made a courtesy call on Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN, and his legal team in his Abuja Chambers this evening to thank and express their thanks for Agu’s release. There were a few exciting moments.
