A former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Dr Obadiah Mailafiya has been reinvited by the Department of State Services (DSS) for another round of questioning.
Mailafia’s lawyer, Yakubu Bawa, confirmed this to newsmen on Monday in Jos.
According to him, Mailafiya is expected to be at the Jos office of the DSS by 12 noon on Monday the 17th of August, 2020.
He disclosed that said the invitation was in relation to Mailafiya’s comments on the Boko Haram insurgency and encounter with the DSS last week.
In his words: “I believed it wouldn’t be anything different from the last encounter with DSS, which was purely interactive.”
It will be recalled that the former CBN deputy governor was questioned for more than six hours by the DSS last week.
Addressing newsmen after he was released, Mailafia said he stood by the comments he made.
However, the spokesman of the agency, Peter Afunaya, said Mailafia apologized profusely for his comments.
He accused Mailafia of attempting to cause a breach of peace in the country.
“Dr Obadiah Mailafia’s recent outburst aimed at playing to the gallery and creating unnecessary tension is a confirmation of his group’s desperation to breach the peace.” He said
