Delta: 2023 Governorship Aspirant, Kenneth Okpara, Dies At 60

A governorship aspirant in the forthcoming 2023 general elections in Delta state, Chief Kenneth Okpara, is dead.

Okpara, a former Commissioner for Economic Planning and Finance in the state, died in the early hours of Friday at age 60 after battling an undisclosed illness.

The deceased, who is a stalwart of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, hailed from Eku kingdom in the Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.

He was appointed to serve as commissioner for economic planning from September 2011 to July 2013 by the immediate past governor of the state, Emmanuel Uduaghan.

He was also the finance commissioner from July 2013 –May 2015.

A top PDP official who disclosed details of the politician’s death to newsmen on condition of anonymity said: “Yes, Kenneth Okpara is dead, he died at about 4:00 am this morning and that’s all I can say for now. May his soul rest in peace amen.”
