Chelsea cruised to a 4-0 win over Juventus at Stamford Bridge, securing a place in the Champions League’s last 16 round.
Trevoh Chalobah scored the game’s first goal with a brilliant move and shot from a 25th-minute corner. It was his first appearance in the competition.
The hosts could have led by more at halftime if they had taken advantage of several golden opportunities, but they were also grateful for Thiago Silva’s outstanding defending when he brilliantly hooked an Alvaro Morata lob off the line.
In the second half, Chelsea remained the superior team and rightly extended their lead with a quick-fire double strike.
Just before the hour, Reece James rifled a stunning strike past Wojciech Szczesny, then Callum Hudson-Odoi capped off a fantastic team goal to put the game out of reach.
In stoppage time, substitute Timo Werner added a fourth to seal the thrashing.
The result puts Thomas Tuchel’s side ahead of Juventus on goal difference in Group H, with the pool winner to be decided on December 8 when Chelsea visits Zenit and the Old Lady hosts Malmo.
