Cross River State Governor, Ben Ayade has presented a N277.7 billion budget for the 2021 budget fiscal year to the State House of Assembly.
Ayade presented the budget tagged ‘Budget of Blush and Bliss’ to the state assembly on Thursday in Calabar.
He said the budget was aimed at improving the welfare of residents of the state following the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The governor explained that of the N277.7billion budget, N192billion represents the recurrent expenditure which represents 69 per cent of the budget while N85.1billion representing 31 per cent was left for basic expenditure.
He said: “The 31 per cent is to deal with infrastructure, water resources, foreign relationship, information system, climate change and also strengthen our social media unit’’.
It is worthwhile to note that Governor Ayade has a thing for dramatics and theatrics particularly with the naming of the state’s budget since he assumed office as governor.
In 2017 the state’s budget was dubbed ‘Infinite Transposition’ while the 2018 own was termed ‘Kinetic Crystalization’
Similarly, the 2019 and 2020 budget of the state were named ‘Quabalistic Densification’ and ‘Olympotic Meristemasis’ respectively.
The governor is also popular for his crying antics and has been called out on various occasions for shedding what many believed to be ‘crocodile tears.’
