Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State has directed security agencies to take all legitimate means to halt violence and recover items looted by hoodlums during the fracas that ensued in the state on the sidelines of the #EndSARS protests.
The Governor gave this directive in a press release signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Christian Ita and made available to newsmen at the weekend.
He ordered for search of residential houses of people of Cross River State for possible recovery of looted items.
Ayade confirmed that more soldiers have been deployed to the state to help quell violence while tasking security agencies in the State to take legitimate actions to put an end to the arson and carnage being witnessed in some parts of Calabar.
The Governor who maintained that he understands the pain of the people stated that there was need to protect the commonwealth of the people which is currently under threat by some persons who are desperately trying to discredit the peaceful disposition of Cross Riverians.
Ayade also called on Cross Riverians to rise up and defend their land from criminal elements bent on destroying the image of the State.
He reiterated that the dusk to dawn curfew in the state was still effective while advising residents to comply with the directive.
