On Monday night, goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale is poised to make his England debut against San Marino, while Arsenal teammate Emile Smith Rowe is also expected to start.
England will most likely play in a 3-4-3 system, with one of Gareth Southgate’s youngest sides in his five years in command.
Since being named to Southgate’s expanded squad of 33 for the pre-Euros training camp in June, Ramsdale has been a regular in the senior England set-up.
However, he has yet to appear in a senior match; when Southgate rested Jordan Pickford against Andorra last month, Sam Johnstone was given the nod in goal.
Smith Rowe came off the bench for the final 10 minutes of England’s win against Albania at Wembley on Friday night, but he is expected to start against San Marino on Monday night.
After the withdrawals of Jordan Henderson, Mason Mount, Raheem Sterling, and Jack Grealish on Sunday, the 21-year-old gets his chance.
