Mrs Aisha Buhari, Nigeria’s First Lady, is not expecting a child but is undergoing treatment for an unspecified condition presumed to be cancer, according to several presidential sources.
Images of Aisha and President Muhammadu Buhari landing in Nigeria from Turkey on Sunday fueled pregnancy speculation, with many Nigerians wondering if the First Lady is expecting a child.
Aisha was shown in one of the photos wearing a yellow lace kaftan and a black shawl wrapped over what seemed to be a baby bulge, which she carefully placed her right hand on.

Another photo of the pair on the plane’s staircase showed the First Lady with what seemed to be a baby bulge as she slowly went down the set of stairs.
However, according to a source, Aisha is not expecting a child but is ill.
He went on to say that the First Lady’s usage of pharmaceuticals led her to acquire weight and change her form.
“She’s not pregnant. She’s treating an undisclosed disease which is believed to be cancer. The drugs she’s taking had caused her to gain weight,” the source said.
